The Geek Triangle of Barcelona

Twenty-three shops related to the world of science fiction and video games located between Passeig de Sant Joan, Ronda de Sant Pere, Plaça Tetuán and Carrer Ali Bei, set against the backdrop of the Arc de Triomf, go to make up the famous Geek Triangle of Barcelona.

Sci-fi and comic books, video games, Japanese merchandise, role games, dolls and all kinds of paraphernalia to satisfy even the most demanding geeks. The triangle, which originally consisted of just three stores, continues to grow despite the competition from online stores.

The first to bravely open up shop here were the owners of Los Norma Cómics, who did so in 1983, and since then the shop has undergone a multitude extensions and renovations in its quest to perfect its offer and service. Today the shop is not just admired in Barcelona, but in Europe, with an area of over 500 m2 plus a bar-restaurant called Glups.

The other veteran store, which opened in 1985, is Gigamesh, which specialises in comics, board games, cinema and books, most of which are in English, which makes it ideal for tourists. Today, the bookshop is also famous thanks to its acquiring the publishing rights to the novels from the series A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones).

Without a doubt, the Geek Triangle of Barcelona, close to the city centre at just 15 minutes’ walk from Plaça Catalunya, is among the must-sees for the city’s visitors.
